Deportivo and Espanyol drew
0-0, but only thanks to a couple of controversial decisions against the home
side by referee Megia Dávila. The Galicians dominated the early minutes,
with Estoyanoff and Riki going close and Kameni saving well from Capdevila. And
they thought they had scored when Arizmendi turned in Riki's cross, the ball
coming down off the crossbar and appearing to bounce over the line, but
Megía ruled no goal.
The one-way traffic
continued after the break, with Estoyanoff and Riki once again trying their
luck. And for a second time Megía stood in the way of a goal when
Arizmendi ran through to beat Kameni, this time the referee ruling out the
strike for the positional offside of a colleague. Let off the hook, the
visitors came close to sneaking away the three points when Tamudo hit the post
with his side's first real shot at goal. But that would have been too much, and
in the end both sides had to settle for a point. |
