Atlético Madrid could
only draw 0-0 with bottom club Gimnàstic earlier in the evening, leaving
Javier Aguirre's side down in fifth place. The first chance fell to the home
side, Galletti putting a free kick over the top. But missing their two
suspended anchormen Luccin and Maniche, they were outplayed by Nàstic's
three man midfield, and the visitors could have scored when Rubén Castro
shot just wide. Matellán and Juan both failed to hit the target a few
minutes later, and Leo Franco had to make a spectacular save from Campano's
free kick shortly before the interval.
But Atlético came
back after the restart, Galletti somehow failing to hit the target after
Agüero set him up and Rubén Pérez keeping out a dangerous
Pernía free kick. The keeper had make a couple more important saves from
Agüero before the final whistle, although the local challenge ended when
Gabi was sent off for a second bookable offence later on. It was only the
second time this season that Nàstic had picked up points away from home,
although Real sociedad's victory means they are now four points adrift of the
rest. |
