Valencia move back up into
the European spots after a 0-1 win at Zaragoza, the first time that
Víctor Fernández's side have failed to score all season. The
locals went close a couple of times early on, Diego Milito firing a long shot
wide, and ex Valencia midfielder Aimar bringing a good save out of Butelle, who
was replacing the indisposed Cañizares. But three minutes before the
break a long shot from Angulo sailed over the head of the stranded César
and in to the net off the far post, giving the visitors the lead with virtually
their first effort at goal.
After that though Valencia
took control of midfield, looking to conserve their lead. Butelle had to keep
out a weak effort from Diogo and a snapshot from Sergio García, and
Morientes came on to try his luck at the other end. But otherwise there was
little action to talk about, and the visitors held on to close the gap on their
opponents to two points. |
