The game between Celta and Villarreal finished 1-1, a result which leaves both sides safely in the upper half of the table. Baiano headed the Galicians into the lead from a Gustavo López cross on the quarter hour mark, but Diego Forlán brought a good save out of Pinto at the other end a few minutes later.

Guille Franco had a penalty appeal turned down after the restart, and Barbosa kept out a close range header from Placente soon afterwards as the game swung from end to end. But twenty minutes in to the second half Forlán picked up the ball outside of the area and drove an unstoppable shot into the roof of the net to level the scores. Both goalscorers had chances again after that, but in the end a draw was a fair result.
