Gimnàstic finally got
their first win at home in the first division since March 1950 after coming
from behind to beat Levante 2-1. Portillo and Llera both went close early on,
but Riga fired a long shot past Rubén Pérez to put the visitors
ahead with just under half an hour gone.
Shortly before half time
David García curled a free kick past Molina to make it all square, but
Kapo got the ball in the net at the other end a couple of minutes later only
for the strike to be ruled out for offside. And soon after the restart local
keeper Rubén Pérez did well to keep out a dangerous header from
Alvaro.
Midway through the second
half new coach Paco Flores decided to bring on the club's latest signing
Rubén Castro, and within minutes he had restored the lead, turning his
marker before striking an angled shot into the far corner of the net. It was an
important win for the Catalans, who move above Real Sociedad and off the bottom
of the table as a result. |
