A thrilling match in
Santander, where Racing moved away from the danger zone after a 4-3 win over
Recreativo. Zigic was the match winner for the Cantabrians, the big man heading
the opening goal from a Munitis free kick on the quarter hour mark. The
Asturians had a penalty appeal turned down when Mario appeared to handle in the
area, and soon afterwards Beto equalised, turning the ball in from close to
goal following a corner.
Racing keeper Toño
had to be replaced by Calatayud a few minutes later, but the Asturians restored
the lead with a Garay penalty after Zigic was brought down in the area. And the
Serbian striker had a hand in the third goal as well, setting up Colsa for him
to run on and chip the keeper before the break.
The visitors were left a man
short when Beto was sent off for a foul on Zigic on the hour mark, but a couple
of minutes later Uche headed them back in to the game from Juanma's cross. But
two minutes after that Zigic was there again to turn the ball in to the empty
net after López Vallejo could only parry a shot from Scaloni, and he
could have had a hat-trick had he been able to find the target after connecting
with a cross from Oscar Serrano. Jesús Vázquez got a third goal
for the visitors with a late free kick ,but it came too late to prevent a first
defeat after a run of three wins in a row by the Andalusians. |
