Barcelona are back on top
after a 1-4 win at Mallorca on Sunday night. Frank Rijkaard's side were under
pressure early on, especially from the battling Maxi López, who was
looking to impress against the side who loaned him out. Jankovic and Basinas
both went close as well, but Prats had to be on his toes to keep out a Motta
header a few minutes later. And with a couple of minutes to go to half time
Gudjohnsen put the visitors ahead, rounding the keeper to score after a quick
passing move between Deco and Ronaldinho.
The Icelandic striker scored
again a few minutes after the restart after Iniesta put him through,
controlling the ball well and making himself space to strike an angled shot
past Prats. Mallorca came back though, Víctor winning the ball off
Márquez following a cross from Jankovic to beat Valdés from a
narrow angle. But with eight minutes to go the islanders were left with ten men
after Varela picked up a second booking for a foul on Deco, and Barça
took advantage to score two more, Ronaldinho firstly setting up Iniesta for him
to shoot wide of Prats, and then lobbing the ball through for substitute
Ezquerro to volley home from left of the area. |
