Real Madrid got their
challenge back on track with a 1-4 win at Osasuna, all four goals coming from
Ruud Van Nistelrooy (the first time a player has scored four in La Liga since
Kluivert did so at Tenerife almost five years ago). The locals were in need of
points, and Webó had a chance to put them in front when he headed
Delporte's cross over the bar early on. But soon afterwards Ricardo could only
push out a long shot from Robinho, and Van Nistelrooy nipped in to turn the
ball past the keeper.
Ziganda's side could have
levelled the scores, firstly when Raúl García shot in to the side
netting and then when Casillas parried a Puñal free kick. But Van
Nistelrooy struck again after Robinho's effort was deflected by a defender, the
ball falling kindly for the Dutch striker to score from close up. And before
the half time whistle he had his hat-trick after Raúl slipped a ball
through for him to shoot wide of Ricardo inside the near post.
Both keepers were in action
after the restart as Roberto Carlos, Flaño and Puñal all trying
their luck, and Valdo headed one back against his old side following a corner.
But "Van the man" was there again to pick up a reverse pass from Emerson to get
his sixth goal in four days, and take his side back into third spot, still
three points behind leaders Barcelona. |
