Mallorca and Atlético
Madrid drew 0-0 in the San Moix stadium on Saturday evening. Most of the
chances fell to the home side, with Arango shooting wide and Víctor
hitting the post in a play which was eventually pulled up for offside. The
visitors only caused any problems for the local defence with an overhead kick
from Galletti, and Víctor and Ballesteros both headed wide before the
interval.
Víctor headed wide
again after the restart following good work by Maxi López, but the
introduction of Agüero revitalised Atlético, with Luccin bringing a
good save out of Prats with a free kick, Víctor Bravo almost heading the
rebound back in to the net and Agúero himself also seeing another effort
saved by the veteran keeper (who now heads up the Zamora table after a fourth
game in a row without letting in a goal).
Substitute Diego
Tristán could have won it for the hosts in the dying minutes had he been
able to control the ball in front of goal, but the final whistle went soon
afterwards and both sides had to settle for a point. Atlético have now
gone three games without scoring a goal, and the European spots are moving
further from their reach. |
