Bottom club Real Sociedad
picked up their second point of the season in a 0-0 draw at Mallorca, a result
which probably saves coach José Marí Bakero for a little while
longer. If anything the locals had the better of a dull first half, but only a
couple of efforts from Arango caused any work for Claudio Bravo, making his
debut in the visitors' goal. An injury in the pre-match warm up had deprived
Manzano's side of their most creative player Ibagaza, and Real themselves lost
Xabi Prieto with less than half an hour gone.
The Basque side were left
with ten men after Gerardo was sent off for a high tackle on Basinas twenty
minutes from the end, but even so they could have opened the scoring had
Kovacevic been able to take advantage of a half chance soon afterwards. The
best opportunities of the game though came in the last five minutes, with Diego
Tristán, Jankovic and Jordi all hitting the woodwork for the home side
as they tried to take advantage of the extra man. |
