The group A match between
Burgos and Sevilla Atlético ended 0-0 leaving everything
for the second leg in a week's time. Despite the scoreline both sides had
chances, although the visitors should have wrapped things up twenty minutes in
to the second half when Iván Gómez saved Salva Sevilla's penalty
after Fernando fouled Diego Capel.
Big crowds in all the
grounds, but the highest attendance was at Córdoba, where 17,0000
fans saw the home side beat Huesca 2-0 in their group B final. Ex Racing
defender Pierini opened the scoring in only the second minute following a
corner, and Guzmán got the second midway through the second half to put
the Andalusians in line for a return to the second division just two seasons
after going down.
Racing Ferrol are on
track to bounce back at the first attempt after beating Alicante 2-0.
Lamatina headed the Galicians into the lead from Repi's cross in the twentieth
minute and Corredoira got the second soon afterwards following good work by
Repi and Jonathan Carril. But Diallo was sent off for a second bookable offence
on the hour mark, and local keeper Queco Pina had to make some important saves
late on to keep out the visitors. (17.06.07)
Rayo Vallecano have a
more than even chance of returning to the second division after a 1-0 victory
over Eibar in the first leg of the group D final on Saturday evening. A
crowd of 15,500 turned up to see Piti get the only goal late in the first half
after Cubillo set him up. The visitors hit the woodwork twice before the break
though, and Piti was sent off for a second bookable offence midway through the
second half to leave his side with ten men. However veteran keeper Alberto
saved the day, stopping an Etxabe penalty after Amaya had fouled Rebollo, and
then keeping out Iñigo in the last minute. (16.06.07) |
