Good results for the Canary
Island sides in the first legs of the second division B play-off finals, Las
Palmas coming away from Linares with a 2-2 draw and Vecindario beating Levante
B 2-0. The other two games finished all square, Sevilla B and Salamanca drawing
0-0 and Ponferradina and Alicante ending 1-1.
Las Palmas went ahead
twice at Linares, the first when Nauzet Aleman scored seven minutes
before the break. Chico equalised from a free kick a couple of minutes later,
but Marcos Márquez headed them back in front after the restart before
Dani Bouzas levelled the scores again. Both sides played most of the match with
ten men after Romerito and Darino were sent off for fighting.
Levante B were hoping
for great things after their first team won promotion the day before, but Aitor
Goñi headed Vecindario ahead from Viyuela's corner immediately
after the restart, and David Dorta repeated the act for the Gran Canaria side a
few minutes later before Goñi was sent off for a second bookable offence
soon afterwards.
The game between Sevilla
B and Salamanca ended goal-less, leaving everything up to the return
match at the Helmántico stadium next week. Both sides had chances in the
first half, but the Andalusians could have won it after the restart had Felipe
not made important saves from Winde and Diego Capel.
A last minute headed goal by
Marcos Estruch saved a 1-1 draw for Alicante at Ponferradina. The
León based side had taken the lead with a Diego Ribera penalty after
Chupri was fouled early in the second half, and seemed to be on their way to a
clean sheet before Estruch popped up to equalise.
The battle to avoid the drop
appears to be settled after Baza won their first leg game 0-1 at
Castillo on Saturday evening. The Andalusians scored the only goal of
the game from the penalty spot, Pepe Díaz converting the kick twenty
minutes from the end to leave the Canary Islanders staring relegation in the
face. (18.06.06) |
