Elche moved up into
the top three pending Sunday's games with a 1-0 win over Gimnastic
Tarragona. The East coast side were on top right from the start but could
not make a breakthrough until three minutes before the interval, when Alberto
beat Alvaro with a shot from the left of the area. Ruz came close to equalising
a minute later, but Peragón should have increased the lead when he shot
over the bar when free on goal. Local keeper Unanua saved a dangerous free kick
from Abel soon afterwards, but there were no clear cut chances after that as
the home side close ranks. Elche extended their unbeaten record to four games,
and Nàstic drop to the lower reaches of the table after a third defeat
in a row.
Only one other match in the
Second division on Saturday, Málaga B coming back from a goal
down to beat Poli Ejido 1-2 and move out of the relegation zone. The
hosts took the lead in the six minute when Tena headed a long throw past Javi
Muñoz, and Marco Navas came close a couple of times to increasing the
lead. But the visitors gradually took control, and shortly after
González-Vigil had a goal disallowed, the Peruvian striker connected
with Diego Castro's cross to level the scores. Both sides had chances after the
restart, but Diego Castro struck the winner midway through the second half to
give his side their first win in five games (22.10.05)
Real Murcia took over
top spot in the table after beating Albacete 2-0 on Sunday lunchtime.
Iván Alonso got them off to the best possible start, heading Juanma's
cross past Sanzol in the first minute, and the Argentine striker hit the post
soon afterwards as the locals swamped the visitors' goal. Albacete didn't
trouble Juanmi until the half hour mark when Garrido forced him into a good
save, but Rubén Reyes and Mario Bermejo came close as César
Ferrando's side recovered after the break. Richi got on the end of Pedro
Léon's free kick to head a second goal for the hosts though, and Juanmi
went on to record another clean sheet for his side, who have only let in three
all season.
Last week's leaders
Xerez drop to second on goal average after they were held to a 1-1 draw
at Sporting Gijón later in the evening. The Asturians dominated
the early play, although Camuñas had a goal disallowed at the other end
for offside in the visitors' first attack. Pablo Alvarez touched Juan's free
kick past Julio Iglesias to open the scoring for the home side on the stroke of
half time, but Geijo headed just wide and Granero hit the bar before
Camuñas set up substitute Iván Rosado to equalise twenty minutes
from the end.
The top two opened up a
three point gap on the rest, but behind them eight sides are separated by just
three points. Recreativo are in third spot after beating Racing
Ferrol 0-3 at their A Malata stadium. Ramón headed the Andalusians
into the lead from Aitor's corner on the half hour mark, and ex Racing forward
Uche should have made it two when Bouchard saved his penalty kick early in the
second half. Gastón Casas did beat the French keeper a few minutes later
though, and Uche got his revenge with a last minute individualist strike,
making him the second division's Pichichi with seven goals.
Recreativo are level on
points with Valladolid, who won 3-1 at home to Numancia. Tote
woke up what to that point was a dull match, beating Alvaro Nuñez with a
shot from 40 metres out on the half hour mark, and Aduríz got a second
after Capdevila set him up soon afterwards. But if Tote's strike was
exceptional, Capdevila went one better with a third goal from inside his own
half ten minutes after the restart. The visitors finally got a late consolation
when Moreno beat Bizzarri near the end, but they ended the weekend down in the
bottom half of the table.
Tenerife drop to
sixth after they were held to a 0-0 draw by Hércules, who remain
a point below them in the table. The Canary Islanders had won their first four
home games, but they were lacking direction and only a header from César
Belli following a corner caused any problems for Moso in the visiting goal. The
Alicante based side went close themselves when Sergio headed a corner wide, but
after the restart they sat back to defend the point, especially when Castro was
sent off for a second bookable offence near the end, and Moso kept out late
efforts from Marrero and Maikel.
Levante move back up
to seventh after a 3-0 win over Real Madrid Castilla, a result which
saves the head of their coach José Luis Oltra for now.All the goals came
in the second half after a dull first 45 minutes, with Carmelo starting things
off after a bad clearance by keeper Codina. Manchev got on the end of Ian
Harte's free kick to head home a second on the hour mark, and got his second of
the night a few minutes later to round off the final scoreline and leave the
youngsters further down in the drop zone.
Lorca drop to ninth,
a point behind Levante, after they were held to a 1-1 draw by
Almería. The home side were on top in the first half, Isaac,
Jorge Sánchez and Moro going close before Sánchez set up Ramos to
chip keeper Valerio and open the scoring. Half time substitute Luna brought a
good save out of Jauregui at the other end after the restart, and a few minutes
later headed on a long cross for Francisco to score the equaliser. Alexandre
could have won it for the locals though when he shot over the top with the goal
at his mercy in the final minutes.
Ciudad Murcia move up
level with their neighbours Lorca after beating struggling Lleida 1-2.
Goitom got them off to a good start when he headed home a corner with less than
a quarter of an hour gone, and Piti made it two with a shot from outside of the
area after the restart. Bilic pulled one back for the Catalans from the penalty
spot a minute later when Nakor was fouled, but when Pelegrí was shown a
straight red card twenty minutes from the end their challenge ended.
The defeat leaves the
Catalans further down in the drop zone, and they were overtaken by
Eibar, who moved out of the relegation spots after a 2-0 win over bottom
club Castellón. The visitors had the better of the first half
though and hit the woodwork twice, a long shot by Miguel which hit the bar and
a header by Manel against the post. Asensio beat Raúl though to open the
scoring before the interval and Azkoitia wrapped things up with an injury time
penalty after Rodri was sent off for a foul on Iñigo. (23.10.05)
