Two of the relegated sides
met in the last match of the season, with Cádiz running out 5-0 winners
over neighbours Málaga in front of a stadium which was still packed with
enthusiastic home fans despite their side going down.
Despite the result the
visitors had the best chances early on, with Gerardo firing a free kick over
the top and Armando saving from Couñago. Pavoni latched on to Enrique's
pass to open the scoring though, and Lobos and Mario Silva both went close
before Alexis and Saúl tried their luck at the other end.
The floodgates opened after
the restart though, Jonathan Sesma scoring twice in a minute after picking up
passes from Oli and then Pavoni. Estoyanoff made it four with an angled shot
low past Arnau, and crowd favourite Mirosavljevic rounded things off with a
fifth near the end in his first appearance for several weeks. The fans
celebrated, "we'll be back next year!" |
