The first issue of the season has been decided, Málaga now unable to save themselves from relegation after losing 2-3 to Racing Santander. Nando Yosu was in charge of the visitors for the first time (this season at least) after Preciado resigned midweek, and he saw his side take the lead with a spectacular Casquero volley.

The hosts turned the scoreline around though with two goals from Alexis in the space of five minutes, the first with a header from a long cross after Aouate misjudged his challenge, and the second from close to goal following a corner.

Racing equalised again when Antoñito took advantage of a hesitant Alexis to barge him off the ball and poke a shot past Aouate shortly after the break, and ten minutes from the end Juanjo got the winner after Arnau had saved a hotly disputed Antoñito penalty after the referee ruled that Fernando Sanz had handled the ball whilst on the ground. It was the Cantabrians first win in seven games, and they move four points clear of the drop zone as a result.
