Cádiz kept themselves
in the fight to avoid relegation with a 1-2 win at Zaragoza, and they are now
only three points away from seventeenth placed Espanyol. Víctor
Muñoz's side were trying to get over their midweek cup final defeat at
the hands of Espanyol, and they came out before kick off with a poster thanking
the fans for their support. After a brief flurry from the visitors things
appeared to be on track when Savio fired a powerful shot through the diving
hands of Limia, and they could have gone further ahead if Diego Milito and
Ewerthon had been able to find the target later in the first half.
As half time approached
though the Andalusians started to fight back, with Enrique and Lobos both going
close. And just before the break a good run by Lobos inside the area ended with
Gabi Milito tripping him up, the Argentine forward converting the resulting
penalty kick.
Things were to get worse for
the home side just two minutes after the restart, Pavoni beating César
again after Lobos set him up. By now the fans were starting to turn on their
own players, and the introduction of three substitutes didn't improve the
situation. Generelo did test Limia one last time with a dipping shot from
outside of the area, but the visitors held on for a first win in seven games
which delighted the many supporters who had made the long trip from their home
town. |
