Puñal (penalty). After Nacho pulled back David López on edge of
area. 1-1. 81. Morales. Ran on to Salva pass to strike angled shot across
Elía.
Osasuna continue to pick up
points in their fight to hold on to the fourth Champions League spot, although
they must rue a wasted opportunity after being held to a 1-1 draw at home by
bottom club Málaga.
It was a dull affair
however, with neither side managing a decent shot at goal throughout the first
half. Referee Pino Zamorano gave the hosts a helping hand though with half an
hour gone when he awarded them a more than dubious penalty, Nacho's challenge
on David López from a yard outside of the area not appearing to be
against the regulations despite the winger's lunge forward in to the box.
The visitors should have
equalised soon after the restart, Elía saving well from Juan
Rodríguez and Pablo Couñago hitting the post, with Moha going
close for Javier Aguirre's team a few minutes later. Málaga coach Manolo
Hierro eventually turned to Salva and Chengue Morales, who was applauded on to
the pitch by his ex fans, and with ten minutes to go the two combined to level
the scores, Salva challenging Cruchaga to lay the ball across for the Uruguayan
international to score his first goal of the season.
Before the game ended Salva
got himself sent off after being booked twice in the same action, once for
diving and once for fighting with Cruchaga. It didn't matter much as the final
whistle went a couple of minutes later, but the draw was not a lot of use for
the Andalusians, who ended the weekend ten points away from safety with one
foot and a half in the second division. |
