Osasuna are proving that their position in the table is not just good fortune, and they followed up their win over Barcelona with a 2-4 victory over their city neighbours Espanyol. The Catalans were full of confidence though after qualifying for the cup final midweek, and they got off to the better start, Tamudo going close twice with headers and Ito having a shot saved before Tamudo opened the scoring from De la Peña's free kick.

But Javier Aguirre's side scored three times in the last twenty minutes of the first half to turn the scoreline around, David López equalising from close up after Milosevic headed a long Javier Flaño centre back across goal. Muñoz set up a second goal a few minutes later after Milosevic sent him away down the wing, his cross finding Webó for him head down past Gorka. And two minutes later Milosevic got on the scoresheet himself after López played on Webó's cross.

Lotina changed his tactics at the break, taking off right back Zabaleta to bring on a more attacking Juanfran, and Luis García reduced the gap to one goal, beating Elía with a spectacular shot from way outside of the area. But Muñoz matched García's effort with an equally spectacular strike at the other end soon afterwards to ensure his side's record sixteenth win, taking them level on points with third placed Valencia. It was a seventh home defeat for Espanyol though, and they are still not clear of the danger zone.
