Getafe came away from Zaragoza with a 1-2 victory which takes them a point above their opponents in the table and virtually ensures them of another year in the top flight.

The strong wind made play difficult in the first half, but the visitors mastered the conditions better early on, Alberto shooting over the top and Pernía bringing a good save out of César. The hosts went ahead though when Diego Milito got on the end of Ewerthon's cross to poke the ball past ex Zaragoza keeper Luis García around the half hour mark.

However the lead only lasted five minutes before Paunovic headed the equaliser from Gavilán's free kick, and the game swung the visitors' way when Alvaro was sent off just four minutes after the restart after catching the Serbian forward with a flying elbow.

Luis García had to be at his best though to save from Ewerthon and then turn an effort from Oscar González on to the post before Paunovic popped up again to turn the ball past César after Gavilán beat Ponzio and crossed in.

Diego Milito had an effort acrobatically cleared by Belenguer and then saw another shot tipped on to the bar by the keeper late on, but it was not Víctor Muñoz's side's night, and their hopes of European football next season now appear to be limited to winning the cup.
