Zaragoza kept their hopes for a place in Europe alive (aside from the cup final that is), a 1-3 win at Real Sociedad keeping them in the top half of the table. The home side had been struggling recently after three defeats in a row, and their opponents almost took advantage with a couple of early chances which Riesgo did well to deal with. However with nine minutes on the clock López Rekarte set off on a run down the right, and his cross was touched on by Skoubo for Nihat to turn the ball in to the net.

Ewerthon could have equalised soon afterwards when free on goal but he shot straight at the keeper. Ansotegui hit the crossbar in reply, but Ewerthon hit the bar at the other end in another attack close to half time.

Ten minutes in to the second half though Ewerthon did get the goal he was looking for, an easy tap in after Cani set him up. And six minutes later Víctor Muñoz's side took the lead after Zapater's free kick was blocked, the ball falling to Oscar who's shot was deflected in to the net by Jauregi.

The goal took the wind out of Real's sails, and soon afterwards Ewerthon wrapped things up when he headed Ponzio's cross past Riesgo for his second of the night. Arconada's side drop to within a place and two points of the relegation zone, and most of the disappointed fans abandoned the Anoeta stadium well before the final whistle.
