Cádiz got their first win in seven games on Saturday evening, beating Espanyol 2-0 to move out of the relegation spots for 24 hours at least. The visitors handled the wet conditions better in the first half though, Fredson going close a couple of times, Luis García having a penalty claim turned down and Zabaleta bringing a good save out of Límia. The locals replied with an effort just wide from Raúl López, and a direct corner from Lobos which hit the outside of the post.

Lotina brought on Tamudo in the second half, his first appearance since a lay-off for injury, and the team captain tried his luck soon after coming on. But it was Cádiz who drew first blood, Abraham Paz heading the Andalusians in to the lead from Jonathan Sesma's free kick a quarter of an hour from the end. Límia had to be at his best to turn a long shot from Luis García on to the post in the final minutes, but play went up the other end and Paz returned the complement to Sesma, setting him up to pull down a long cross and beat Gorka to wrap things up.
