Fourth placed Osasuna are
not going to give up their Champions League spot without a fight, and the
Pamplona based side increased their lead over their nearest rival to five
points after beating Cádiz 1-3. It was the locals who took the lead
though when Lobos struck a free kick past Ricardo on the quarter hour mark, and
the new signing brought a good save out of Ricardo soon afterwards. But ten
minutes before the break Milosevic headed Delporte's cross wide of Armando, and
two minutes later David López curled a free kick wide of the keeper, who
burst into tears on camera as a result.
The Andalusians tried to
fight back, Ricardo saving again from Medina before the interval and Estoyanoff
and Medina both hitting the woodwork after the restart. Víctor
Espárrago brought on striker Oli for a defender, but just three minutes
later Medina was sent off for a second bookable offence when he tried to kick
the ball out of Ricardo's hands. That effectively ended their challenge, and
Raúl García wrapped things up with a shot from outside of the
area in the final minutes. The defeat leaves Cádiz on the verge of the
relegation spots, just clear of the bottom three thanks to a better goal
difference than two of their rivals. |
