Sevilla moved up to fifth
spot pending Sunday's games, five points behind Osasuna, after a convincing 0-4
win over local rivals Cádiz on Saturday evening. Juande Ramos's side
were looking for revenge after being knocked out of the cup a few weeks ago,
and they took the lead as early in the fifth minute when Saviola (returning to
the line up after an injury) got on the end of Kanouté's headed pass to
fire a shot past Armando.
The local keeper was kept
busy for the rest of the first half, stopping efforts from Alves and Navas, and
Aitor Ocio got the ball in the net only for the strike to be ruled out for a
previous foul. Only Estoyanoff created any work for Palop at the other end,
although Sesma thought he should have had a penalty when brought down by Alves.
Coach Víctor Espárrago was not happy with his team's performance
though, and changed his two wingers at the break.
For a short while the hosts
looked like they could equalise, but with twenty minutes to go their visitors
went further ahead when Antonio Puerta headed a Daniel Alves cross past
Armando. And with the game coming to an end they added two more for what was in
the end a flattering scoreline, Kepa losing his marker to head an alves free
kick in on the far post and Kanouté squeezing a shot past the keeper in
injury time. |
