Osasuna finally got their
first win of 2006, beating Sevilla 0-1 in the Sánchez Pizjuán
stadium in the last game of the weekend. It was a typical hard fought match
between the two, with referee Pérez Lasa showing thirteen yellow cards
and one red, that to Sevilla left back David who insulted a linesman in injury
time.
The Andalusians came in to
the game full of confidence after three home wins in a row, but the visitors
closed them down right from the start and there were few chances for either
team in the first half. Jesús Navas had a good chance to open the
scoring after the restart but he shot wide, and Romeo just failed to beat Palop
with a chip over the bar at the other end.
A couple of minutes later
though the Pamplona based side took the lead, Milosevic celebrating his return
to the line up after a month long's injury heading Javier Flaño's cross
past the keeper. Ricardo saved from Maresca at point blank range a couple of
minutes later, and the Italian midfielder missed a chance to save a point for
the hosts when he headed wide right at the end. Osasuna are back on track for
European football, and Sevilla will have to wait a little longer if they are to
oust Javier Aguirre's side from that fourth spot. |
