The first game of the weekend saw Cádiz and Racing Santander share the points in a 1-1 draw, a result which leaves both still in the bottom half of the table. The visitors got off to the better start, with new signings Pinilla and Damià both testing Armando in the opening minutes. Estoyanoff shot just wide at the other end, but Benjamín had to cut out a dangerous cross from Pinilla with Oscar Serrano closing in near to half time.

There were few other chances though until midway through the second half, when referee Daudén Ibáñez awarded the visitors a hotly disputed penalty after Armando ran in to the back of Matabuena on the edge of the area. Felipe Melo converted the kick, but their lead only lasted ten minutes before Raúl López controlled a long pass on his chest and raced past Damià to beat Aouate with an angled shot.
