The biggest win of a high
scoring weekend came in Madrid, where Getafe got their revenge for being
knocked out of the cup with a 5-0 victory over Espanyol. Güiza headed his
side into the lead in only the fourth minute from Redondo's cross, and Riki
came close to making it two soon afterwards. Calatayud saved comfortably from
Pandiani midway through the first half, but Pernía made it two a couple
of minutes later when he picked up a pass from Güiza to score.
Lotina made two
substitutions at the break, and Tamudo headed just wide soon after the restart.
But Güiza steered a looping header past Gorka from Vivar Dorado's long
pass to make it three, and Pernía crashed home a spectacular free kick
ten minutes later for his sixth of the season. Espanyol were heading for their
first away defeat in eight games, and Gavilán wrapped things up, turning
in Güiza's cross to round off his side's biggest victory in the first
division near the end. |
