A thirteenth straight win for Barcelona, Frank Rijkaard's side beating Celta 2-0 in the first match of the midweek round of games to move five points clear of Osasuna pending their game on Thursday. Ronaldinho, Eto'o and Messi showed off their FIFA awards as the World's first and third best players and best youngster before kick off, but the visitors held their own and could have taken the lead had Baiano's angled shot not come back off the far post, and had Valdés not saved another effort from the striker minutes later.

Soon afterwards though a quickly taken free kick by Ronaldinho caught the defence napping, and Eto'o took advantage to run through and beat Esteban. Baiano headed another chance wide after the restart, but before long Eto'o wrapped things up with his second goal after Iniesta picked up a pass from Ronaldinho and turned through 360 degrees before slipping through a pinpoint pass. It was the Cameroonian striker's seventeenth goal in as many league games, the highest total in Europe to date.

Giuly could have got a third had Esteban not been on his toes, and the keeper also kept out efforts from Eto'o and Giuly again late on. Javi Guerrero did have a goal ruled out at the other end in the final minutes for a non existent offside, but the result was never in doubt and Frank Rijkaard's side go from strength to strength.
