Deportivo La Coruña
moved back up to fifth in the table after beating Cádiz 1-0 in the
Riazor stadium. It was the Andalusians who got off to the better start though,
De la Cuesta failing to beat Molina when free in front of goal in the second
minute and Oli trying his luck soon afterwards. And the locals didn't get going
until shortly before half time, Juanma sending an effort just over the top and
Armando saving well from Sergio and Andrade.
Víctor
Espárrago had to change his side around before the break when he lost
Iván Anía and then De la Cuesta to injuries. But they had more
than held their own in the first half, and the demanding local fans gave their
team a hard time as they returned for the second half, with whistles in
particular for a disappointing Diego Tristán. But just four minutes
later the boos turned to cheers as Tristán got on the end of
Valerón's lofted pass to fire an impressive first time volley in off the
post.
Cádiz tried their
best after that, Oli in particular testing Molina before he was replaced by
Estoyanoff, but Depor's defence held fast to ensure their fifth win in a seven
games. It was another blow for the Gaditanos, who have now only taken two
points from their last seven matches, and they drop to within two points of the
relegation spots as a result. |
