Mallorca moved further away from the danger zone with a 0-3 victory at Alavés, who themselves drop back in to the bottom three as a result. The Vitoria based side had not won at home all season, and although Rubén Navarro fired a shot just wide early on, the visitors were looking the better team. Costanzo had to be at his best to keep out a shot from Víctor and then two efforts from Arango, the first a dangerous free kick and the second a first time volley following a corner. It was just a matter of time though, and with the first half coming to a close Víctor ran on to a lifted pass from Arango to put the Balearic Islanders ahead.

Chuchi Cos had put out an attacking side with four forwards and two wing backs, but he decided to stick with his line up after the Restart. Within seven minutes though they fell further behind when Víctor had time to pick his spot after a cross from the right bounced across the area, and Iuliano made it three with a spectacular first time volley from a corner. The game came to an end in a heavy rain shower, the unhappy local fans chanting "Dmitri, vete ya" as the club president left the dugout under police protection. Only two weeks ago Piterman was the hero after his side beat Athletic Bilbao in the San Mamés stadium, but as they say in Spain, "¡fútbol es así!".
