Mallorca moved out of the relegation spots after beating Celta 1-0, a result which takes a lot of pressure off local coach Héctor Cúper. Both sides had chances in the first half, Prats tipping an early effort from Jesús Perera for a corner and Víctor heading over at the other end a few minutes later. Iriiney headed another chance for the visitors over the bar, and Tuni tested Pinto in the visiting goal.

Things swung in Mallorca's favour though at the start of the second half, Doni getting what was to be the only goal of the game two minutes after the restart and Contreras getting himself sent off for a second bookable offence just five minutes later. After that the locals sat back to defend their precious lead, although Jonas Gutiérrez could have made it two when he hit the post late on. A relief though for the local fans, and the Islanders leapfrog Alavés and Espanyol, who are scheduled to play each other tomorrow.
