Deportivo La Coruña stay in joint second spot, level with Getafe on eight points after drawing 1-1 with Betis. The game got off to a lively start, both sides having goals disallowed by referee Megia Dávila and Doblas saving well from Capdevila, who hit the post later on.

The visitors took the lead when Oliveira got on the end of Joaquín's cross to shoot past Molina, but a hotly disputed penalty decision by the referee on the stroke of half time after Miguel Angel and Diego Tristán tussled for the ball allowed Tristán to equalise. Betis coach Serra Ferrer was shown the red card for imitating Wayne Rooney and ironically applauding the referee in the incident, and his physio followed for insulting the official at the break.

Caparrós decided to give a run out to youngster Senel in the second half but it was not his night, and after missing an easy chance he picked up an injury and had to leave the field. Doblas did well to save from Tristán soon afterwards, and at the other end Marcos Assunçao hit the crossbar with a free kick. But in the end both sides had to settle for a point which leaves Betis still three points behind their rivals.
