A draw at the Nou Camp, Barcelona and Valencia sharing the points after finishing level at 2-2 in their midweek league match. Both managers put out strong sides for what has become a classic fixture in the league calendar, but the first chance fell to the visitors when Valdés did well to save from Rufete at point blank range. After that though it was all Barça, Eto'o and Ronaldinho shooting just wide of the target and Cañizares saving well from Giuly before the French midfielder opened the scoring on the stroke of half time.

Within ten minutes of the restart though, David Villa had turned the scoreline around, levelling the scores from the penalty spot after he himself was fouled by Edmilson, and then a minute later charging down an attempted clearance by Valdés, the ball bouncing back in to the net. But Barcelona came back, Ronaldinho firing a free kick wide before Deco sneaked an equaliser after Cañizares uncharacteristically dropped Ronaldinho's cross at his feet.

The keeper made up for his mistake in part at least with a late save from Eto'o, and then watched another Ronaldinho free kick sail over the bar. Valencia had got the point they wanted, and they have not lost now in the Nou Camp since Rivaldo's famous overhead kick deprived them of a place in the Champions League five seasons ago.
