Cádiz proved that they intend to do their utmost to stay in the top flight after a 0-1 victory over Racing Santander. If anything the locals had the better of a dull first half, Aganzo failing to take advantage of the best chance shooting straight at keeper Armando. The Cantabrians did most of the attacking after the break, Raúl heading just wide, Armando tipping a shot from substitute Antoñito around the post and Dalmat hitting the side netting.

The game appeared to be heading for a scoreless draw though until Dudu Aouate could only parry a long shot from Estoyanoff, and Jonathan Sesma nipped in to head the rebound into an empty net. That sparked off the best moments of the match, with Aouate preventing Pavoni from making it two and Armando and his defence scrambling a couple of late attacks away from the front of goal. But the visitors held on for their first win since their return to the top flight, and the defeat leaves Racing in the bottom three without a point from their first two games.
