Hércules
returned to the second division after a six year absence after drawing 1-1
against Alcalá in front of a capacity 25,000 crowd in the Rico
Pérez stadium. The Alicante based side were defending a 1-3 lead from
the first leg, and went further in front when Nano got on the end of
Cámara's free kick to head past Ballesteros shortly after the break.
Izquierdo equalised later on for the visitors, but too late to influence the
result. (25.06.05)
Real Madrid B also
made it up after eight years despite losing their second leg game 0-1 to
Conquense. A second division B record 57,326 crowd turned up to watch
the "Pavones" defend their two goal lead from the first leg, although they
struggled at the beginning and only a couple of good saves from Diego
López kept the scores level at the break. Soldado had a penalty appeal
turned down after the restart, but soon afterwards Alberto Alejandro took
advantage of a defensive mistake to score at the other end. And a few minutes
later Madrid were let off the hook when the referee disallowed a goal by Mikel
Rico which would have taken the match into extra time.
Castellón's
last appearance in the second division was even longer ago, eleven years to be
precise, but they too were promoted thanks to a narrow 1-0 win over
Zamora and an aggregate victory on the away goal rule after a 2-1 result
in the first leg. A 14,000 crowd saw Manu Busto put their side ahead with an
individualist goal on the quarter hour mark, and the East coast side held on to
finally win their way back after several previous attempts had failed.
There was a surprise though
in the fourth game of the weekend, Lorca overcoming a 1-2 result from
the first leg to beat Real Unión 1-3 in Irún and return to
the second division for only the second season in their history. Jorge
Sánchez and Perona gave the Murcia based side a two goal lead with
strikes either side of half time, and they seemed to be on their way to
victory. But they were reduced to ten men when Iñaki Bea was sent off in
the ninetieth minute, and Sukía scored in the sixth minute of injury
time to take the game into extra time. However Ramos beat Otermin near the end
to win the match and make it three East coast sides out of the four who will be
going up this summer.
Elsewhere Talavera
saved themselves with a 1-1 draw at Mirandés, who are relegated
to the regional third division on the away goals rule. Tino gave the locals
hope when he put them ahead after the break, but a late goal by Estecha sank
them in the end. It was a big blow for the home side, who were actually in the
promotion play-offs last season. (26.06.05)
Seventeen sides won
promotion this weekend to the second division B, the most famous of which were
Real Oviedo, who had been relegated two seasons ago for failing to meet
their debts. A 25,000 crowd turned up at the Carlos Tartiere stadium, and the
Asturians won 2-0 against Real Avila to add to their 1-5 win in the first leg.
They will be joined by Mérida, another side who have had to
rebuild after going bankrupt and consequently being relegated recently. Six
sides will be playing in the second division B for the first time in their
history, including 96 year old Portugalete and 78 year old
Almansa, as well as Baza, Negreira, San Isidro and
Villanueva. (26.06.05) |
