Lorca are the first
side through to the play off finals after winning 1-2 at Alicante.
Having won their regional league, the home side were favourites to overturn the
single goal defeat from the first leg. But they were unable to get through a
well organised defence, and were caught out by strikes from Castellanos and
Perona in the last ten minutes. Llera did get one back in injury time, but with
away goals counting double they still needed two more, and time ran out seconds
later.
Meanwhile Gramanet
beat Mirandés on a penalty shoot out in the relegation knock out
to ensure they stay in the second division B next season. A last minute goal
from local substitute Dani Mayo equalled the tie overall and took the game into
extra time and then penalties. But Lago missed his kick to take the Catalans
through 4-5 on the shoot out, much to the delight of many fans who had made the
trip to Miranda del Ebro in Burgos to support their side. (11.06.05)
Defeats for some of the
favourites in the second leg of the semi-finals, with three of the four
regional group champions knocked out of the competition. Only Real Madrid
B survived, their 2-0 win over Zaragoza B giving them a chance to
return to the division they left back in 1997. Some 27,000 fans turned up at
the Bernabeu stadium to see defender Arbeloa give the "Pavones" the lead from a
corner on the half hour mark, and with their opponents down to ten men after
Aranguren was sent off, Borja Valero picked up a pass from Soldado five minutes
from the end to wrap things up.
The youngsters will play the
group D final over two legs against Conquense, who beat Burgos
1-0. After a scoreless draw in the first leg, the visitors were looking to sit
back and attack on the breakaway. But the Cuenca based side finally won through
thanks to a strike from Jorge Pérez a quarter of an hour from the end.
Rayo Vallecano didn't
win their group but they were expected to bounce back to the second division at
the first attempt after their surprise relegation last season. However they
fell at the first hurdle, losing 1-0 to Real Unión in
Irún, and it will be the Basque side who meet Lorca next week in the
group C play off. The Madrid based side were hardly in the match, with their
opponents hitting the woodwork twice before De Carlos finally scored the winner
five minutes from the end.
Regional group II champions
Ponferradina are also out after losing 0-1 to Alcalá de
Henares. The team from León were favourites to win through after
drawing the first leg 1-1 in Madrid, and appeared to be going through on the
away goals rule when the match went in to injury time without troubling the
scoreboard. However Esaú scrambled the ball into the net to put the
visitors ahead, and although the locals were awarded a penalty at the other end
a minute later, they were only able to hit the post with the spot kick.
Alcalá will face
Hércules after the Alicante based side beat Ceuta 2-0 in
their group A match. Some 17,000 turned up at the Rico Pérez stadium to
see their side try and return to the big time (they last played in the first
division in the 1996/7 season), and they were rewarded when youth international
Sisi put them ahead on the half hour mark. Cámara added a second after
the restart, and the North Africans ended with ten men when Krios was sent off
for a second bookable offence.
Southern regional champions
Sevilla B were knocked out on the away goal rule after a 1-1 draw with
group B rivals Zamora. Moreno put the youngsters ahead on the stroke of
half time, which after the scoreless draw in the first leg would have been
enough to see them through. But Aiert equalised with a late free kick to give
the visitors a shot at promotion to the second division for the first time in
their history.
Zamora will play their final
against Villarreal's neighbours Castellón, who were 1-2 victors
over Universidad Las Palmas. Sergio put the Canary Islanders ahead in
the tie with a strike midway through the first half, but headed goals from
Molist and José Marí after the break were enough to see the
visitors through.
Finally Talavera will
have to meet Mirandés to avoid relegation to the third division after
they were held to a 2-2 draw by Fuenlabrada, losing 3-4 on aggregate.
The Toledo based side raced into a two goal lead with strikes from Ismael in
the first quarter of an hour, but Aloisio levelled the tie near the end and
Sosa got the winner for the team from the outskirts of Madrid in injury time.
