2-0. 75. Yeste. Bent free kick over wall and down into bottom corner of net.
3-0. 93. Tiko. Controlled short pass from Orbaiz and struck shot past Riesgo.

Athletic Bilbao beat neighbours Real Sociedad 3-0 to move up to within four points of the European spots. It was a typical derby game, with neither side giving ground until ten minutes before the break when Etxeberría and Urzaiz combined to set up Ezquerro for the opening goal. Up to that point the only danger had come from the boots of the local players, Yeste testing Riesgo with a free kick on the half hour mark, and Urziaz headed wide before the half time whistle.

Both sides had chances after the break, Urzaiz and Etxeberría putting efforts wide and Mikel Alonso and Mladenovic both shooting over the top. But it was Yeste who got the next goal with a well struck free kick, Llorente and Etxeberría creating space in the defensive wall for the midfielder to curl a shot past the keeper. Youngster Juan Domínguez went close to pulling a goal back a few minutes later, but Tiko wrapped things up with a third goal after Orbaiz set him up in the third minute of injury time.
