Racing Santander moved
closer to safety after a 2-3 victory at bottom club Numancia, a result which
took them ten points clear of the relegation spots . The hosts took the lead
twice though, Pablo Sanz opening the scoring with a soft goal early on after
Pulpo González played back a corner. Regueiro crashed home a spectacular
equaliser after a run down the left wing, but Tarantino restored the lead with
his first goal for his new side five minutes before the break, the on-loan
Athletic Bilbao defender thereby celebrating his first call up for the Spanish
under 21 squad.
Aganzo levelled the scores
before the half time whistle though, taking advantage of a hesitant defence to
head in from close up. And eight minutes after the restart his replacement
Arizmendi ran on to Benayoun's pass to score what was to be the winner.
Benayoun fired a long volley against the bar a few minutes later, and got
himself involved in a rifi-rafi with keeper Juanma soon afterwards after
falling in the area when tackled. The frustration of the local side was evident
when Juanpa got himself sent off near the end for a high kick which left
Morán with a cracked rib, and they ended the day one step closer to
relegation. |
