Getafe followed up their weekend victory over Real Madrid with a 1-2 win over Athletic Bilbao in a match postponed from two weeks ago. The Madrid based side were making their first ever appearance in the San Mamés stadium, and in line with tradition they presented a bunch of flowers to the statue of the original "Pichichi" before kick off. And they came out to a standing ovation, the locals fans showing their appreciation for allowing the game to be rescheduled to allow them to play their UEFA cup match against Austria Vienna.

After that though the gloves were off, and Urzaiz felt himself unlucky not to be given a penalty when held back by Nano, still managing to get in header which Belenguer cleared off the line. And referee Fernández Borbolán further upset the crowd when he disallowed a goal by the striker following a cross by debutant Moya a few minutes later. Kome could have scored at the other end had Aranzubia not been on his toes, but two minutes later Ezquerro latched on to Etxeberría's pass to put his side in front, this time the referee choosing to turn a blind eye to a possible offside.

Athletic should have wrapped things up before the break when they were awarded a penalty after Belenguer handled a long shot from Orbaiz in the area, but Aragoneses guessed correctly and saved Iraola`s kick. That kick started the visitors into action, and after the break they took control. Riki, Nano and Albiol all tried their luck before Kome steered a header past the keeper to equalise. And ten minutes from the end Michel latched on to a pass from Riki to stun the crowd with the winning goal. It was a first away win of the season for Quique Flores's side, and they move safely up to mid-table, now eleven points off the relegation zone.
