A sensational game at Osasuna, where Málaga confirmed their recovery under Antonio Tapia with a 1-6 drubbing of the Pamplona based side. Miguel Angel started things off after picking up a long pass from Gerardo, and Duda struck a second following a short indirect free kick early on. Milosevic failed to convert a couple of chances as the home side pushed to get back in the game, but Miguel Angel hit the post at the other end before putting Baiano through a few minutes later for him to get a third.

Things continued in the same vein after the restart when Cruchage failed to clear a long throw-in, leaving the ball to Baiano who drove a shot under the unfortunate Elía. A minute later Aloisi pulled one back when he controlled Milosevic's headed pass on his chest and volleyed a shot in to the roof of the net, but only a couple of minutes later his side were left with ten men when Moha was sent off for a kick from behind on Baiano which the Brazilian striker made the most of.

Elía stopped Baiano from getting his hat-trick a few minutes later, but a second yellow card for Cruchaga left the locals with nine men. Juan Rodríguez made it five with ten minutes to go when he steered a header past the keeper, and substitute Wanchope wrapped things up three minutes later, completing the "set" with a header from Gerardo's cross. The result takes Málaga above their opponents in the table, their recent records a sign of their current form: Málaga 16 points from the last 21, Osasuna only 3 from the last 24. Aguirre admitted after the match that Osasuna's objective was now to avoid relegation.
