Mallorca kept their hopes of survival alive with a 3-1 win over Getafe, and they move to within three points of Albacete and six of their opponents, who ended the weekend in fourteenth place. It was only their second win at home and the fourth of the season, one of which was against the Madrid based side earlier in the campaign.

The star of the night was Luis García, who scored twice and made a third, opening the scoring from the penalty spot in the tenth minute after Ballesteros had been fouled by Nano. The visitors equalised though midway through the first half when Yordi headed Cotelo's cross into the net, and they could have taken the lead when Gabi brought a good save out of Moyà, and when the referee turned down a penalty appeal after the keeper got in the way of Craioveanu.

Eight minutes before the break though the locals restored the lead, Okubo (back in the starting line up after recovering from an injury) putting through Luis García for him to slide a pass out for Arango to finish off. And just a few minutes after the restart it was all over when Tuni slipped the ball through for Luis García to round the keeper and score.

The Balearic Islanders could have added to their scoreline after that, Sánchez Broto keeping out a couple of efforts and Albiol clearing off the line from Arango with the keeper beaten. But Mallorca had done enough for the three points, and the fans went home hoping that they had finally turned the corner.
