Zaragoza put a stop to their recent slide down the table with a 1-0 victory over Málaga, who drop points for the first time since Antonio Tapia took over three games ago. The locals got off to the better start, Arnau touching Savio's header on to the post early on. And a minute later they were ahead, David Villa winning the ball off César Navas and firing a shot which the keeper could only parry as far as Cani, who drove the ball back in to the net.

The visitors came back after the goal, Amoroso having a penalty appeal turned down when tackled by Alvaro and a shot from Duda hitting the crossbar. But only a couple of minutes after the restart Edgar got himself sent off for a tackle which left Cani in hospital, and the Andalusians were left with nine men when Duda picked up a second booking later in the half. Galletti and Javi Moreno both wasted chances to extend the lead, but they had at least done enough to take the three points. The crowd didn't like it though, and there were some whistles when the players came off at the end.
