The Basque derby between
Osasuna and their Basque neighbours Real Sociedad ended with a 1-0 victory for
the locals, sending Amorrortu's side back to the edge of the relegation spots.
The San Sebastian based club had not lost in the Sadar stadium in twelve years,
and they got off to a good start, only denied of a first goal by referee
Turienzo Alvarez, who firstly turned down appeals for a penalty when Nihat was
tripped by Cruchaga, and then waved away protests after Nihat's shot appeared
to cross the line before Corrales cleared it away. Elía, making a first
start of the season in place of Sanzol, was also in action late in the first
half, turning away another shot on target from Nihat.
Osasuna improved after the
break though, and Webó should have put them ahead when he failed to
connect cleanly with a cross in from Milosevic. Aguirre eventually turned to
Chengue Morales, and it proved to be an inspired move as the Uruguayan striker
got the winning goal within seven minutes of coming on, albeit somewhat
fortunately when he turned a cross from Corrales into the net with his knee. It
was enough though to give his side a victory and keep them in the top half of
the table, still within two points of the European spots. |
