Racing Santander beat bottom side Numancia 2-0 to record their third victory in a row and move up to the top half of the table. Lucas Alcaraz's side were almost caught out early on when Osorio fired a shot just wide of the post. But after that they took control, Benayoun crashing a shot against the crossbar and then shooting just wide.

The local domination continued after the restart, Regueiro bringing a good save out of Juanma. And a few minutes later the Cantabrians took the lead in a quick team move, a deft touch with his heel by Aganzo from a Pedro López cross leaving Morán free to round the keeper and score. Javi Guerrero got a second goal four minutes from the end, running on to a pass from Benayoun to shoot low across Juanma, and a late effort from Tevenet would have been no more than a consolation had the shot found the target.
