Betis and Málaga
shared the points in the last game of the evening, their local derby ending
1-1. Oliveira gave the home side an early lead after Edu's shot came back off
the post, and Calatayud made a good save from Fernando soon afterwards after a
sparkling run from Joaquín. Referee Moreno Delgado got into the action,
sending off local manager Serra Ferrer for an insult and a few minutes later
awarding a penalty to the home side and booking Gerardo, only to reverse the
decision after consulting with his linesman. And minutes after that he pulled
up Duda for a non existent offside as he broke free on goal.
The visitors drew level
though before the break, Gerardo cracking a curling free kick into the top
corner of the net, and Duda came close to doing the same two minutes later when
his free kick came back off the crossbar. But that was just about where the
action ended, the only scoring chances worthy of note coming from a series of
free kicks from Marcos Assunçao late on which Calatayud had little
problems dealing with. Both sides ended with ten men after Romero was sent off
for a second booking (which probably wasn't) and then Oliveira picked up a red
for a bad foul on Juanito (which probably was). A point each which leaves both
sides mid-table. |
