Second placed Sevilla were beaten 3-0 by Zaragoza on Sunday night, leaving them six points now behind leaders Barcelona. Víctor Muñoz's side were in a mean mood after being knocked out of the cup midweek, and shortly after David Villa fired a shot over the bar from five yards out, Galletti put them ahead when he ran in to catch David ball watching and head Toledo's cross past Esteban. Midway through the first half Villa made it two from the penalty spot after Savio was brought down by Sergio Ramos, and Javi Moreno could have got a third before the break if he had been able to connect with Villa's cross.

Caparrós was clearly upset with his side and made two changes by half time, Navas coming on for the unfortunate David on the half hour mark and Antoñito replacing Darío Silva at the break. But there was no reaction, and a quarter of an hour in to the second half Villa made it three, touching the ball past Esteban after Alvaro played on another cross from Toledo. The young striker had scored four in this fixture last season, and he could have got his hat-trick later on if his shot had not gone astray. But Zaragoza had clocked up their fifth straight home win in the league, and they move up to fourth spot, just a point behind the Andalusians.
