Getafe's brief run of two
home wins in a row after they lost 0-2 to Betis, and the Madrid based side find
themselves back in the relegation spots by the end of the weekend. It was a
controversial match though, and the locals thought themselves hard done by
after referee Mejuto González turned down two early penalty appeals and
disallowed two goals, the first for a non existent offside when Riki ran
through to beat third choice keeper Doblas, who was in the side due to injuries
to Contreras and Prats. Betis too had a goal disallowed in the first half,
although Oliveira was in a clear offside position when he collected Edu's short
pass.
The visitors took the lead
four minutes in to the second half when Rivas got on the end of an
Assunçao to beat Sánchez Broto, who was also making his first
appearance for his new club. But they were left with ten men soon afterwards
when Lembo picked up a second booking, and Getafe had another strike ruled out
when Pachón finished off after a header came back off the bar, Gallardo
lying on the ground in an offside position neat to goal. The locals threw
everything forward and paid the price when a long gallop by Joaquín set
up Oliveira for a second goal. And when Doblas made excellent saves from Riki
and Rivas late on, Betis had their first away victory of the season.
Unfortunately Alfonso wasn't around to see his side win in the stadium named
after him though, the Getafe born striker being ruled out with an injury.
