Last weekend's leaders Espanyol couldn't keep up the pace, an Ibarra own goal early in the first half giving Getafe a 1-0 win and their first ever points in the top flight. The Catalans were up against it from the first minute when Kameni had to save from Yordi, and the Camerooni keeper was in constant action from then on, stopping another effort from Yordi later in the first half and making excellent saves from Riki and Pachón after the restart.

The on form Maxi went close at the other end before the break and the ex Espanyol keeper Sergio Sánchez had to keep out Tamudo as the visitors pushed for the equaliser in the second half. But their best chance fell to substitute Martín Posse in the fifth minute of injury time, the Argentine forward shooting over the bar from close to goal.
