Getafe's first ever home
match in the first division was spoilt by Mallorca, who came away with the
three points after winning 1-2. A record 13,000 crowd turned up at the Alfonso
Pérez Coliseum, and Yordi came close to giving them something to cheer
about in the opening minutes when went close.
But six minutes before the
break Luis García (who almost joined Getafe in the summer) opened the
scoring after Sergio Sánchez could only beat away a long shot from
Marcos Vales, and the ex Real Madrid forward then set up Arango for a second
goal soon after the restart.
The introduction of
Craoiveanu gave the local fans some hope, and it was his free kick which set up
Nano to pull one back. But when Moyà stretched to keep out
Pachón's last minute header it was all over, and the cruel reality of
football at the top level hit home. Getafe are already in the bottom three
without a point to their name, and it looks like it is going to be a long, hard
season for them. |
