Valladolid dropped down into the bottom three after drawing 2-2 with Real Sociedad in a controversial match, with referee Megía Davila sending off three players from the home side and also awarding two hotly disputed penalties, and having to leave the pitch with a police escort. Gabilondo opened the scoring for the Basques with twenty minutes gone after Bizzarri could only parry a shot from Nihat, but three minutes later Megia awarded the first penalty after a shot from Oscar González hit Kvarme on the arm. Nobody seemed keen to take it, and eventually keeper Bizzarri stepped up to crash a shot against the post. The ball only came out as far as Ferndo Sales though, who fired it back into the net.

The home side were left with ten men though when Peña was sent off for a foul on Nihat, and the Turkish forward restored the lead for the visitors soon afterwards after Aranburu set him up. And Real should have wrapped things up before the half time whistle when Megia awarded a penalty in their favour, but Karpin put his shot wide. Let off the hook Valladolid fought back, and Fernando Sales headed an equaliser from Zapata's free kick midway through the second half. And even though the locals had Chema sent off for insulting the referee and Ricchetti for a second bookable offence in the last ten minutes, they held on to save a point. Wins for Espanyol and Celta though mean they drop to second to bottom spot, four points before their rivals who are still not out of the relegation battle.
