An injury time goal from
Alvaro gave Zaragoza a much needed win over Osasuna, taking them three points
clear of the relegation zone with two games to go. Víctor Muñoz's
side had not won in five games, and they got off to a nervous start, with
Lainez having to be at his best to save two or three times from the local
forwards and Morales shooting over the bar from close up when it would have
been much easier to score.
Zaragoza came out stronger
after the break though, with Soriano, Dani and Villa all wasting chances in
front of Elía, who was given a run out by Javier Aguirre in place of
Sanzol. But with time running out a quickly taken free kick by Cani was only
partly cleared by the defence, and the ball fell for Alvaro for him to crash a
low shot past the young keeper.
The defeat leaves the
Pamplona based side four points off the UEFA spots, and unless their appeal
prospers against the decision not to award them the three points for the Racing
match earlier in the season, there will be no European football in Pamplona
next season. |
